About

As the senior research officer of the University of Illinois System, the vice president for research (VPR) serves as an advisor to the president on research, intellectual property, technology commercialization, and related economic development activities.

Along with responsibilities and duties delegated by the president, the VPR facilitates and manages the System’s research enterprise and initiatives, exercising direct line authority over its major offices and entities involved in research, tech commercialization, and related economic development.

The VPR also works closely with the chancellors/vice presidents and vice chancellors for research to further technology commercialization and related economic development activities across all three universities in the System.
